I took this quote from your homepage, http://www.etherdetect.com.
I see no support in your software to support dialup devices, correct me if I'm wrong, but I do not believe WinPcap supports dialup devices in any software that uses it. If it can I would love to be contacted by email, Taz_eat@hotmail.com. |

We have tested our products on several dialup networks, including modem on win98/2000, ISDN on win98/2000. And all the result are positive. But we can't ensure you 100% working on dialup network, so the best way is to try. _________________ Harry Liu

|
|
I downloaded the WinPcap 3.01 alpha and installed it; the dial up adapter still doesn't appear in the adapters list.
The OS: win98
Network Adapter: Dialup Adapter (conexant HSF modem)
In the windows network properties 3 adapters appear: Dial up, Microsoft PPP over ATM, Microsoft vitual private networking.
In EtherDetect v1.1 three adapters are seen like the following:
Adapter I.P Net Mask Data-link
PPPMAC 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Ethernet (10MB)
pptp 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Error: Cannot determine the network type: The operation completed successfully
PPATM 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Ethernet (10MB)
The same list appears before and after connection and I tried closing the program before dialing up but the list doesn't change nor the IP number.
Should I remove all adapters in the network properties window except the dial up one?
Thank you in Advance |

The problem seemed to be fixed when i removed everything but the dial up adapter. Now the PPPMAC only appears and capturing works!
I'm very sorry for posting without exerting some effort finding the answer. Thank you anyways.
